EcoPreserve was founded in 2020 by Dr. Elena Popescu, a passionate ecologist with over 15 years of experience in conservation biology. What began as a small research project in the Carpathian Mountains quickly evolved into a comprehensive environmental organization. Dr. Popescu, together with her colleagues from the University of Constanța, identified critical conservation needs in Romania's diverse ecosystems and established EcoPreserve to address these challenges through scientific research and community engagement.
In our early years, we focused primarily on forest conservation initiatives, documenting biodiversity in the Carpathian old-growth forests and advocating for their protection. By 2022, our scope expanded to include water resource management and wildlife conservation programs. This growth allowed us to form partnerships with international organizations, government agencies, and local communities across Romania.
Today, EcoPreserve operates multiple conservation programs throughout Romania, with our headquarters in Constanța. Our team has grown to include researchers, educators, policy specialists, and community outreach coordinators, all united by a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. We continue to expand our impact through innovative approaches to conservation that balance ecological integrity with human needs.
